What is classical drawing?
Classical drawing is an approach that follows classical principles and ideas from ancient civilisations of Greece and Rome. These ideas were rediscovered and developed during the Renaissance by artists such as Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and Raphael.
How many students are in each class?
The maximum number of students per class is twelve. This enables the tutor to provide good one-to-one tuition and support as well as working with the group as a whole.
How much does each course cost?
We try to make the courses and workshops as affordable as possible. Fees range between €150 for a weekend workshop to €300 for a 10-week figure / life drawing course, which includes a live model.
I haven't drawn or painted in years. Will the course or workshop be too difficult for me?
These courses and workshops are suitable for anyone - from complete beginner to professional artist - and most of our classes comprise students of mixed ability and background.
The reason for this is that most people, even art graduates and professionals, are new to the methods and techniques of classical drawing and painting, as most art colleges don't teach this traditional approach.
Do I need to bring anything?
No, just bring yourself! All materials are provided and included in the course or workshop fee.
If I cancel my tuition, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, all course and workshop fees are non-refundable. Our courses and workshops can only go ahead if a minimum number of students have enrolled and paid; so refunding students would negate the viability of any given course or workshop.
Can I use my fee to pay for another course or workshop?
Course and workshop fees are non-transferrable.
What is grisaille?
The term 'grisaille' refers to an underpainting in opaque monochrome oil paint. This is a technique used by the Old Masters.
